Elm Fruit Bowl
Andy found the timber for this bowl on a pile of discarded timber at Bower Ashton Wood Yard. The unusual patterning in the timber immediately caught his eye and so he rescued it from burning or chipping and created this beautiful, unique object.
The patterns in the wood are caused by knots, spalting, burring, and insects. There is evidence that this piece of timber is from the crotchwood - it sat at the junction of trunk and bough, and there is some bark inclusion. The whole history of the tree is contained in this one bowl.
